A qualified Forestry Trainer and Assessor since 1992, I work closely with forestry gangs throughout Northland and as far south as Dannevirke.

Self-employed Registered FIT Assessor since 1999. Past employers include Te Aupouri Maori Trust Board and LFITB (now FITEC).

My main role in forestry is to assess forestry crews skills and knowledge, on behalf of Competenz, the national forestry industry training organisation.  It's really satisfying to see forestry workers gain qualifications that recognise their skills as fellers, log-makers, machinery operators, and crew managers.  Structured training in the skills and knowledge needed for different jobs within crews helps to build productivity while reducing accidents, reworks and staff turnover - training is an investment, not a cost.

My other role is to assist crew managers and supervisors to draw up and implement workplace safety policies and plans to meet WorkSafe and other safety requirements.
